Catering by The Cheese Pleaser & Javier Codina The Saucier

The Cheese Pleaser had a fantastic weekend filled with delicious food and great company. It started early on Saturday morning as we fired up our raclette machine to provide our early morning market-goers with some grilled raclette on sourdough in the cool morning weather.  It was a busy day at the markets, & we are really excited about our stall this coming weekend the 25th April on Anzac Day! We will be introducing a new product for all you foodies - Javier Codina's Jamon & Chicken Croquettes with Romesco Sauce.  These will be selling hot alongside the grilled raclette cheese! Definitely not something to miss.

We also had the pleasure of catering for a birthday party this weekend & wow was the food something to be celebrated! Our menu comprised of canapes, tapas, entree, main and dessert, and was as follows:

  • Spanish Melon wrapped in Jamon
  • Duck liver parfait toastie with apple & walnut chutney
  • Manolete Chorizo with padron peppers
  • Jamon & chicken croquettes with romesco sauce
  • Hervey Bay scallop ceviche with mango and lime dressing
  • 7 hour braised beef cheek with braves potato & sweet Bundaberg capsicums
  • Javier's paella - Queensland seafood
  • Cheese table with seasonal fruits & paste
  • Dark chocolate rocky road

We honestly had the best day serving Javier's beautiful food and working with Chef Seb for this function.  We also styled a decadent cheese table for grazing once all of the food had been consumed and plates had been scraped clean!

You will now find a new page on our website for catering with lots of gorgeous photos of Javier's food, our cheese and a little more information about what we do.

In the meantime we hope to see you at the Powerhouse markets this Saturday for some croquettes & cheese! x

Jan Power Farmers Markets

Yesterday we had our first stall at the Jan Power Farmer's Markets at the Powerhouse and it was fantastic!  The windy day brought the smell of warm raclette cheese through the markets and we had people chatting to us about the cheese all day - it reminded some of travels through Europe and others had never experienced it before.  Nonetheless, many taste buds were tempted with our servings of grilled raclette cheese on sourdough with apple and walnut chutney, and Javier Codina's products.

We will be at the Powerhouse markets every Saturday including Anzac day - the perfect day to come and buy a picnic cheese box to enjoy by the river.  Our products for sale include:

  • 3 Cheese Picnic Box: 3 cheese (approx 450g), Javier's chutney and sea salt wafers
  • Olives with aromats - serve warm with crusty bread and a glass of wine
  • Romesco sauce - Javier's special recipe, a versatile Mediterranean sauce to be used in cooking, on fresh prawns or added to sandwiches
  • Chutneys - Pear and ginger, apple and walnut or rhubarb - seasonal and perfect with cheese
  • Grilled raclette cheese on sourdough with Javier's chutney

Hope to see you there soon -  some photos below :) and thanks @danieltoothpaste for the photo!!

Autumn Wine and Cheese Night

Every so often our close friends get together to learn about wine and cheese specific to a certain theme.  We have tasted cheese from France to local dairy's here in Queensland, and for this particular night we explored the theme of Autumn.

Not being specific to a certain region, each of us had to consider what dish personally resonated with us for Autumn, whether it be related to a feeling, memory, scent or seasonal produce.  The result was warm & rustic dishes surrounding cheese, figs, savoury tarts and oven baked breads.

The photos posted below are of Autumn cheese dishes - and if you scroll to the very bottom you will find Jamie Oliver's delicious recipe for Roasted Grapes with Cheese, recommended to be served with oven baked bread, a glass of red wine and a bowl of walnuts.

Enjoy!

Rustic French Cheese Table

To our fellow cheese lovers,

Welcome to our space of delectable cheese, pastes, fruits, and all sorts of yummy ventures.  Here you will learn a little more about what we do at The Cheese Pleaser.

Last week we installed a gorgeous, rustic and romantic cheese table for a function.  The venue was a beautiful outdoor setting nestled between gardens and candlelight.  The food served was light canapés, paired with a decadent cheese table for grazing.  We sourced beautiful fresh seasonal fruits that looked as ravishing as they tasted; small sweet grapes on the vine, figs, miniature pears and sugar plums.  We paired this with an Apple and Walnut Chutney made by Javier Codina 'The Saucier' of Moda Restaurant.  With this came a fantastic selection of French cheeses with varied textures and flavours - semi hard, soft, oozing brie, hard cheese made of sheeps and goats milk, complete with a rich and creamy blue cheese to finish.

We loved curating this delectable French cheese table.  As dessert for this particular function,  we chose to pair the cheese with succulent, sweet fruits and pastes to finish off the evening.    The beauty of creating a cheese table is how unique each one can be.

With different textures and flavours the opportunities are endless.
